The East Gate project was a private residential envelope reconstruction complete with vapour barrier membrane, insulation, exterior cladding, new roof, facias and soffit as well as selected window replacement. The project also included the replacement of a large dining room window with new double doors leading out to a new deck. This original home was constructed in 1896. The three storey, 4240 square foot sprawling residence had ample character and special care was taken to ensure respect of original building materials and historic elements were retained or recreated where possible.
The complete envelope upgrade has helped reduce energy costs, improved heating and ventilation in the home, eliminated and mediated any damage that had incurred over the 100 year lifespan of this house, increased the value of the home, prolonged the life of the structure and increased the general comfort of the home owners.
